See the Swan Lake ballet at the Alexandrinsky Theatre.
Engage in some fine wining and dining.
And of course copious amounts of coffee (with crayons).
Unfortunately did not catch the G20 Summit crowd, though.
Top 3 ethnographic observations
- To use the Metro, you buy individual tokens from a person (usually a lady) in the ticket booth, that you pop into the turnstile to pass. No smartcard system whatsoever. (Not even sure you can pay by card.)
- To use the bus, you get on and don’t pay until you get off. And again, no smartcard system – cash only.
- Street cleaners drive around on giant hoovers, sucking up all the rubbish. St Petersburg’s incredibly wide streets were so sparkling clean I could lick them.
